We were at the Enmore Theatre to see the Umbilical Brothers perform (all thanks to Yelp). Never been to the Enmore Theatre before but it's a beautiful old theatre that has been done up nicely and not left to rot.
We were intimidated by the box office queue, but it moved quickly and Dave collected our tickets before we wandered over to Barracuda for a drink and snack. Back into the Enmore and enough time to visit the (amply-sized) ladies' loo (clean and pleasant to visit too, unlike the toilets at the Hornsby Railway Hotel) and into the theatre.
Now as these were free tickets,we weren't expecting great seats. Indeed we were in row X - the second back row. Having said that, the sloping floor meant that we had a perfect view of the stage and no problems hearing either. It wasn't full, and there wasn't the usual ridiculous queue for the toilets after the show either.
In fact my only beef was with other patrons. It was a 70 minute show that started at 7.10 pm. We found it both astonishing and rude how late some patrons entered the room - some as late as 8 pm. Some of them even broke up the visual gag that the Umbilical Brothers were doing at the time.
So, the Enmore Theatre is a great venue. Other patrons, not so much. -

Audience floor is slanted, making it perfect for shorties like me and giving us an opportunity to see & fully enjoy the show. Acoustics could be better but they have serious speakers all over so volume is not a problem. Cushioned comfy seats.
Carpet gives the place an old look but it's pretty well kept. Nice theatre, clean bathrooms although super narrow hallways means cramped lines. Bar inside helps with the wait. During intermission worth hitting up conveniently located restaurants, Young Henry's, or Cow & Moon across the street. -

Good ol Enmore! Had such a good laugh with Tanyalee Davis tonight...hadn't heard of her before but she's hilarious!!! In your face personality...love it! Intimate kinda setting in a small room seating maybe 40 peeps and not sold out which is a shame cause she was really good value....
If getting here by car for a show make sure you're early as parking is a nightmare of epic proportions even on a Thursday night! -

Went to the Enmore theatre a few times for a comedy show care of a Fab yelp competition - picked up our tickets easily, no line and were seated with no fuss. I've now seen Arj Barker, Steven Taylor and Dave Eastgate. The comedy has been hilarious and proved to be a great night out. There's a bar so you can take your drinks in if you so please. Snacks are available to purchase and heaps of restaurants nearby. I've also been here for a concert before and it's a top venue. Thanks Yelp!

I've lived in Sydney for a long time and have always known the Enmore as one of this city's premier concert venues. In spite of this I had never actually been there (which shows you what a boring, stay at home kind of guy I am), but there I was, in front of the Enmore with two free tickets to the Umbilical Brothers (part of the Sydney comedy festival ) clutched in my hot little hands.
What a great venue. The enmore is a real old classic of a theatre that he been beautifully maintained over the years. What a great show. The umbilicals are a real old classic of a stand up act that has been beautifully maintained over the years.
Even from row X (yep... Right at the back... But hey, free is free right) we had a great view thanks to the sloping floor. Even the missus who is.. Ummmm... Let's just say, slightly vertically challenged, had a perfect view.
Great venue. Great show. I really should get out more. Maybe next comedy festival....
